Article; ‘So I was chilling in the intensive care unit and...’
-I found them sitting across from each other one with long bronze coloured curls framing his face laughing as he looked towards the other who simply nodded in agreement to the previous statement, he was dressed in all black with the brightest purple and blue snapback on, I quickly came to the judgment he was a man of few words. They continued to drop jokes from the famous and funny comedian ‘Kevin Hart’ as if it were their own seeming completely unaware that I, the interviewer had walked into the room. Surprisingly the young curly haired one turned and said ‘So I was chilling in the intensive care unit
and...’ This is where our interview begins.
Q. Your new album and tour is titled ‘Living
+ Learning’ what inspired this?
A.
- Kaio: Well... you know how you live and you learn well it’s that but put to the music, I mean picture a footballer, first he
learns how to control a ball, he then masters it before he moves to improving it. That is exactly what we do we learn how to control the beats and work with it, mastering the flows and just keep getting better.
- Kid Zeekz: Poof... and it’s GONE
Q. You guys were former dancers, what prompted you to make the transition between the
two?
A.
- Kid Zeekz: Just to make it clear the term former is incorrect for me as I’m still involved and respected in the dance
world just as much as I did two years ago with the most recent title king of Jerk.
-Kaio: in addition to that I’ve always seen dance as a getaway I was former king of jerk and have always seen dance as a way to vent and get away but since I have gained the most respected titles in that field I thought it was about time that I moved on and attempt to master a new field.
Q. I’m going straight to the point of one of the most controversial issues your music faces... the visual and lyrical
mentions of drugs, what is your opinion on this?
A.
-Kaio: It’s a phase, if any sort of financial gain comes from it then like everyone else I will continue speaking about the
subject, I mean my supporters like it right? In reality we aren’t the only rappers that do this, there is a whole movement created around this, we are just the youngest and the flyest’ in the UK, cocky I know but known rappers in the UK
are years ahead of us, and to that I say f**k you and your time difference.
I opened my mouth prepared to ask another question, but I was too late as Kid Zeekz received a phone call on his phone he
quickly stood up and shuffled away, he was quickly followed who by Kaio who simply gave me a nod before leaving the room, this simple little cafe found in the smallest of museum’s held host to one of the most extraordinary interviews
of my life. These young cocky boys could be the next big thing, they possess the strangest mannerisms that seem almost addictive you want to be these boys friends... have I stumbled on the next big thing?
